Why am I getting a low resolution error? Our ordering platform performs a resolution check on your image. This is a calculation based on the number of pixels in the image versus the chosen print size. Each photo size has a different benchmark for the density of pixels (or DPI) required for optimal printing. A low resolution error may mean that the clarity of your image could be compromised due to its resolution. BUT NOT ALWAYS! We advise everyone to ignore the error. If your image will not print well, we will always contact you first and let you know so you can choose whether you want to go ahead with printing or have that portion of the order refunded.

What is a fine art print?Fine art prints are made with high-quality archival inks on acid-free fine art papers using a high-resolution inkjet printer. These are also known as giclée prints. Fine art prints should always meet high quality criteria for paper and ink. The difference between fine art paper and normal photo paper is the composition of the paper itself. Fine art paper must include natural fibres, usually cotton or alpha cellulose. The paper is not artificially bleached with chlorine, ensuring that the photos do not degrade over time. A well-selected fine art paper will showcase the image at its finest by supporting intense colours, marked contrasts as well as a wide range of grey tones. At Bloom Printing Company, we use Epson, Canon and the gold standard - Hahnemühle - fine art papers and Lucia Pro Inks to ensure the highest quality print every time.

How do I know which paper to choose? All paper offered by Bloom Printing Company have been chosen with weight, texture, range, colour, blacks and shadow reproduction as well as affordability in mind. All fine art papers are beautiful but each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Luxe Prints: Luxe prints are fine art prints printed on Epson Hot Press Bright paper. Thiis paper is an acid free, 100% cotton rag media with a bright, smooth, truly matte finish. This paper has an extremely-high colour gamut and black density. It's 330gsm, so it feels heavy and cotton-rich. This heaviness help it stand up to handling but the cotton density means it's important to be mindful of the corners as they wear easily. It is an archival grade paper with over 100 years of life expectancy. It is optically brightened and is perfect for making teeth and whites of the eyes as well as bright colours pop. Hahnemühle Bamboo: Hahnemühle Bamboo is the world’s first fine art inkjet paper made from 90% bamboo fibres, for a natural look and environmentally friendly paper production. The natural white, warm-toned bamboo paper does not contain optical brighteners, and stands out thanks to its soft, lightly textured felt structure and soft feel. The matte surface delivers excellent printing results with defined reproduction of colour and detail, particularly for warm hues and monochrome prints. Bamboo is acid- and lignin-free and meets the most precise requirements in terms of age resistance. Hahnemühle Bamboo is 290gsm, and feels stiff but not too heavy. Prints and print corners wear well with regular handling. Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright White: Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright White is an optically brightened cotton art paper. The lightly defined eggshell surface texture and characteristic soft photo rag feel gives every fine art print an incredible depth and three-dimensional appearance and is perfect for hand-torn deckled edges. This ultra-matte paper produces impressive prints boasting vivid colours, deep blacks and extraordinary reproduction of detail. The bright white of the paper also creates particularly brilliant results for high contrast images. This paper meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance and is perfect for reproducing fine art photographs and works of art. It is 310gsm and feels luxuriously cotton-rich. Hahnemühle Museum Etching: Hahnemühle Museum Etching is a natural white cotton art paper. This heavyweight textured paper does not contain optical brighteners. The finely textured surface with fine felt structure gives fine art prints added depth and dimension. Blacks are deep, colors are rich, and details are finely-reproduced. Combined with the pure cotton base, this creates a wonderfully soft tactile feel and artistic impression. It's extremely dense 350gsm weight give this paper durability. Hahnemühle Museum Etching is an extremely special paper and should be chosen for exceptional prints.

Why are your prints so much more expensive than the big box stores?Bloom Printing Company believes in quality over quantity, which is why we use the best printers, the best archival inks and some of the best papers in the world, ensuring that your images will not only look their very best but will last a lifetime and beyond. When you order prints from Bloom, we look at each image individually before it is sent to print. This ensures that centering and cropping is well done, that the proper colour profile is applied and that printer outputs are adjusted to give the best possible result. Out of the printer, your print is checked over by a human for flaws and cut individually with a trimmer. It is then packaged with an acid-free backing board to ensure it does not bend in transit and sealed in a eco-friendly, biodegradable poly bag, ready to make its way to you. Professional photographers and printers are involved at every stage, ensuring that your prints are delivered to you looking their absolute best. Box stores use dye-sublimation and/or silver halide printers and kiosks that have preset colour and standard output profiles. Prints are produced either on inexpensive cellulose photo paper or cardstock and cut mechanically in the printers themselves. These economical prints absolutely have their funciton and purpose but are not suitable for photographers, artists or discerning customers who care about quality and place importance on acurate colours and details represented in their prints.

What is your turnaround time for prints? The turnaround time for standard-sized prints ordered on in-stock paper is two full business days.
-
How will my prints be packaged?16 x 20 prints and larger are wrapped in acid-free paper and rolled into a shipping tube. Smaller prints are placed with backing board in eco polybags, wrapped in bubble wrap if appropriate and shipped in rigid mailers or boxes.
-
How will my items be shipped? We exclusively use Canada Post/USPS and UPS to ship at this time. As our production studio is in a rural area, our options are unfortunately limited. Please know that we are a small company, and do not get the same shipping rates as some bigger companies. We are working hard to lower our shipping costs as we know firsthand how frustrating it is to have shipping be almost as much as the product itself. As shipping carriers are not guaranteeing delivery dates due to the pandemic, we can not guarantee that your prints/products will be delivered by a specific day.
-
Does your packaging have Bloom branding? All packaging has Bloom Printing Company branding with the exception of packages ordered by our Bloom Pro members who are drop-shipping to their clients.
